Rape Crisis North East is a safe place for teenagers to explore their thoughts, feelings and concerns without being judged. The trauma of rape and sexual abuse can be devastating and without the necessary treatment the effects can last a lifetime.
Rape Crisis North East provides counselling support to both boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18, as well as their parents.
Symptoms
- Teenagers who have been raped or sexually abused may experience some of the following symptoms:
- Loss or gain of appetite
- Depression
- Nightmares
- Moodiness
- Anger
- Sleeplessness
Teenagers may express their symptoms behaviourally, verbally, physically and/or emotionally.
Rape Crisis North East will provide:
- A safe and secure environment to express feelings
- A way of discovering personal boundaries and setting limits
- Validation and affirmation of feelings
All our counselling services are confidential and at Rape Crisis North East we adhere to Children First: National Guidance for the Protection and Welfare of Children.
